Reika Vesala Hidden Wishes workshop at Stoa on 7.7 & 15.7

Teoksen idea on saatu japanilaisesta temarista.

Reika Vesala on Kätketyt toiveet -työpajan johtava taiteilija. Hän on Ryijyn: weaving wishes residensia ohjelman osallistujajäsen Stoan Galleriassa.

Tervetuloa!

In this workshop, the participants make their own balls by rolling the stripe fabric. It's easy to make the ball and the workshop is suitable for all ages! Inside the ball they hide wishes written on paper. Those might be for their own or for some one else. The wish doesn’t need to be revealed. Also small items such as pebbles, small bells etc. might be hidden inside. The idea of the work is from Japanese temari. Temari means hand ball. When parents gave temari to their children, they may have hid a paper with wishes in it. The content has never been exposed. The ball as a gift marks loyalty and hope of good luck for the receiver.

Workshops: Fri 7 July any time between 11.30 and 14:30 pm and Sat 15 July any time between 13:30 and 15:30.

Reika Vesala is the leading artist for Hidden Wishes workshop. She is a participating member of Ryijy: weaving wishes' Residency Program at Stoa Gallery.
