Ryijy: by the stream at VS Gallery Fiskars, Finland, 22.4-29.4.2018 Ryijy: by the stream invites people to be active participants in the artistic process. Using collected materials from the previous Ryijy installation and workshops; Ryijy: weaving wishes in 2016 and Ryijy: creating connections 2017, visitors can write down on fabric their wishes, hopes, and fears and then weave these words into a collectively constructed rug. Ryijy: deepening knots at Fiskars AiR Fiskars, Finland, 1.4-1.5.2018 My residency at Fiskars AiR is titled Ryijy: deepening knots. This will be the first time Ryijy travels outside of Helsinki, which is why the subtitle for the installation in Fiskars is titled ‘deepening knots’. Through discussion and open dialogue around the loom, I am positive deeper connections will be made and hidden stories will be revealed. Ryijy: creating connections at Stoa Gallery Helsinki, Finland, 12.6-26.7.2017 Ryijy: creating connections comes to Stoa gallery this summer! This installation creates a space of togetherness through words, images, and weaving. One can choose to share their hopes, dreams, and fears by writing them on the ribbons. The option to start weaving these thoughts will be available, as well. This installation offers ways to create through building and challenges the idea of how through deconstruction we can construct. Ryijy: weaving wishes at Maailma Kylässä Helsinki, Finland, 28-29.5.2016 Be heard! Behind the Finnish National Theatre, you'll find recycled fabric, on which you may write or draw your hopes, dreams, or fears. Have a seat, this moment is for you to reveal what you have not yet voiced. Over time, your thoughts will fill the installation space creating togetherness through participation. The material collected will later be used to make a Finnish traditional rug, a ryijy, composed of public secrets. Each secret is of equal value and lives on. |
