The first day of Ryijy: by the stream went really well! As always, I have some sort of idea about how I want to build the installation, but on the day of, everything is thrown out of the window because you don't know until you try. I played around with different ways of creating a conducive feeling for writing and weaving. Depending on who comes to the space, we can always try new things together. Everything is impermanent and ready for experimentation.
I had a few visitors today, local and from faraway lands. As we are making and doing that's when the ideas come! Riitta Talonpoika, a very talented ceramist, came to share some dreams. After she wrote them down she immediately wanted to cut them up and weave them into the ryijy. Amazing idea! Now her thoughts are out into the world, but still a mystery to us all. Looking forward to having more discoveries this week!
